In the upcoming Legend 90 Cricket League, a recently launched competition for former international cricket players, the recently retired Tamim Iqbal has declared his intention to compete against his longtime Bangladeshi teammate Shakib Al Hasan.
February event
Tamim recently revealed that he will be playing for Big Boys Unikari in the event, which will be held in Raipur, India in February.
Relative silence observed since
In contrast, Shakib is said to have committed to play for the Dubai Giants in the seven-team competition.
Two of the greatest cricketing stars in Bangladeshi history, Shakib and Tamim, got into a public argument just before the 2023 ODI World Cup and haven’t spoken to each other in years.
Tamim retires from international cricket after over a year of inactivity
Tamim recently declared his retirement from international cricket after more than a year of inactivity. In contrast, Shakib had earlier declared that he will retire following the ICC Champions Trophy, but his odds of doing so are slim given that he was left off of Bangladesh’s tentative 15-man roster for the competition.
Tamim and Shakib may now resume their rivalry in India next month after last competing against one other in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) last year.
