Diana Award: International Honor for Social Changemakers
The Diana Award is an international honor bestowed in honor of Princess Diana, and it was established in 1999. Its purpose is to identify and honor young social changemakers, aged 9 to 25, who have improved society for at least a year via humanitarian and philanthropic endeavors.
Four Bangladeshis received the prize this year in recognition of their exceptional social contributions. They are Tamzid Rahman, Shawon Mahmud, Jawad Araf Khan, and Adiba Binte Ahmad Tuba.
“Esho Pashe Darai Foundation” and “Trio Business Cubers”
The “Esho Pashe Darai Foundation” was established by 15-year-old Adiba to combat poverty and resource shortages in Bangladesh. At thirteen years old, she embarked on this expedition. Adbia’s current projects include distributing mosquito nets, organizing winter clothing drives, enhancing education for disadvantaged children, and supplying food during Ramadan.
“Trio Business Cubers” was founded by Jawad, a 24-year-old who offers creative business solutions to people in need. More than 30,000 young people have benefited from his free training programs, which have given them business and entrepreneurial skills. Jawad has reached 100,000 viewers globally thanks to his live web programs, such as Let’s Amaze and Hustle & Bustle, which pair young people with professionals from across the world.
“BigyanPriyo” and BloodLink Foundation in Bangladesh
up order to fill up the gaps in science education and fight “pseudoscience” in Bangladesh, Shawon, 24, launched “BigyanPriyo” in 2018. Thanks to its interesting material and community-driven projects, the portal has grown to become the biggest Bangla scientific network, reaching over a million students worldwide.
At the age of 17, Tamzid established the first peer-to-peer blood donation app in Bangladesh, called “BloodLink Foundation.” After his relative passed away from Thalassemia, he began this endeavor. The goal of Tamzid is to eradicate child mortality brought on by a shortage of blood transfusions. Over 20,000 individuals have already been contacted by the BloodLink Foundation, which has also made it possible for over 2,500 donors and receivers to connect.
