The management of India is allowing Abishek to freely display his abilities

Abhishek Sharma’s Power Hits in Twenty20

India’s opener Abhishek Sharma stated that while the team management has given him the go-ahead to bat with unrestrained aggressiveness, he is aware that he needs to be reliable in order to keep his spot in the Twenty20 squad.

In a stunning exhibition of power hitting, the Punjab batsman smashed eight sixes and five fours to help India defeat England by seven wickets in the first Twenty20 International on Wednesday in Kolkata.

Scored 50, 36, 79 in last three knocks

In his second T20 International against Zimbabwe in July of last year, Abhishek hammered a century off of 46 balls, his only score of 20 or more in his first nine innings of the competition.

However, after scoring 50, 36, and 79 in his last three knocks, the 24-year-old will feel more at ease.

Left-Handle Batsman’s Perspective on India’s Senior Team

The left-hander told reporters, “In India, there will always be a lot of competition in our senior team,” and he expressed gratitude to coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav for supporting the team’s younger players.

If you don’t score any runs in three, four, or five innings as a batsman, it can play in your head.

They even tell us, ‘We know you’re going to win the game for us, just go and express yourself,’ when we don’t do well.

Aims to showcase talent and support himself

“When the captain or the coach says this, you get confidence and back yourself.”

Net workouts against bowlers who act similarly to the bowlers he would face in the contest are part of the opener’s preparation.

Abhishek feels fortunate to have been tutored by the left-handed legends, having been mentored by former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, coached by West Indies great Brian Lara at Sunrisers Hyderabad, and currently playing under Gambhir.

“They just want me to showcase my talent in the way I play and to back myself,” he stated.

The second Twenty20 International of the five-match series between India and England takes place in Chennai on Saturday.
